Mr Read has his private practice at Spire Hospital Harpenden, One Stop Doctors (OSD Healthcare) and One Hatfield Hospitals and offers a dedicated hand service privately that mirrors his NHS practice this includes trauma and elective care.

Mr Read manages all common hand problems including Carpal Tunnel Syndrome, Trigger Finger, DeQuirvain's Tenosynovitis, Thumb Base Arthritis, Keinbocks Disease and Dupuytren's contracture. Mr Read is skilled in percutaneous needle faciotomy which is an outpatient minimally invasive treatment for Dupuytren's contracture

Trauma care includes subspecialist trauma care for complex wrist fractures using advanced fragment specific fixation techniques. He is skilled in limited incision techniques for managing scaphoid fractures and cares for all complex hand fractures. He is also skilled in the management of late complications of fractures such as scaphoid non union and malunion of the distal radius
